Scholar

This word has a number of meanings and uses, but in this context it is used in the sense of someone who is a student of an institution in further or higher education, who is learning by studying the works of writers, from the past and present.

Sic

From the Latin meaning 'so, thus, in this manner'. This is normally used when making an in-text or end of text reference, and is frequently used in brackets e.g. (sic).
It is used to demonstrate that the original source, includes errors in the information you would cite. This might be a spelling mistake in the title, or an incorrect date of publication.
