Who is the Author: Editors

These can be identified by the use of the abbreviation (ed.) after a name.

Laing, A.F. (ed.), 1979, Young Children With Special Needs. Swansea: Department for Education and Science.

Editors gather a collection of papers together written by a collection of authors, and often produce an introductory chapter or preface. Authors write their own publications like a paper, a book or an article. On some occasions neither an editor nor an author are mentioned, say in an encyclopaedia or a dictionary. Generally speaking the title page should indicate if a name/s are mentioned that they are either authors or editors involved.
